We hope you join us for a live Iraqi Baking Demonstration over Zoom on Wednesday, February 17th from 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm to bake for Purim! Ahead of the program, we invite you to prepare the Basic Dough Recipe and several fillings for Cheese Sambusak, Sambusak Tawa, and Baba’a, a flat date pastry. The Basic Dough may be used for all these delicious treats. We will also be making Hamantaschen for the kids!
Throughout the year, special recipes from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, Turkey, Singapore, China, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and other international Jewish communities grace our Shabbat and holiday tables at Kahal Joseph Congregation. These dishes have been handed down for generations in our community, and now we share them with you.
The culinary treasures below are meant to be savored on special occasions, meetings with dear friends, and family gatherings. Some recipes are traditional while others are modern. These delectable dishes, breads, and pastries are now yours for all to enjoy: Chicken Curry, Egg Rolls, Kubba Filling & Stew, Malfouf, Marzipan Sweets, Singapore Satay, Tibbit, White Fish, Baklava, Biscotti, and Challah. Bon Appetit!
