Every year, we count our blessings and thank Hashem for keeping us alive and healthy. Today this prayer is more appropriate than ever, after a difficult eighteen months of the pandemic.
During the few months that our synagogue could not open its doors, many steps were taken to make our synagogue a safer and healthier place. The bathrooms on the first floor have been remodeled, the new plumbing fixtures are now all touchless, and new powerful exhaust fans change the air in the bathrooms at a much faster rate than before. The air conditioning system has been cleaned, and special filters have been installed to sanitize the circulated air in the sanctuary and the social hall.
Rest assured that our priority is the welfare and good health of our community. With that in mind, the High Holy Days’ services this year will be limited to members only. The social hall will be set up with chairs spaced apart to provide another option for those who feel more comfortable sitting in a less crowded area.
You should also know that masks are required for everyone, at all times when inside the building, because we need to protect each other. We are fortunate that we are able to celebrate these High Holy Days together in our beautiful Sanctuary, and I would love for you to join our celebration.
I am grateful to our wonderful Board of Directors who have been very engaged and creative during these challenging times. To Rabbi Nathan Halevy and Hazan Saeed Jalali, thank you so much for your selfless dedication to our community during these difficult times. To our Senior Hazan Sassoon Ezra, my wishes and prayers for good health. Thank you so much to Bracha Halevy for her constant support, to our dedicated office and program staff for their hard work–Sarah Bouchoucha, Dafna Ezran-Young, Molly Jalali, and Penina Meghnagi Solomon, and to our maintenance staff for their organization and assistance, Felix Quezada and Rosa Maldonado.
I am extremely grateful to my husband Joseph and to my daughters Naomi, Lisa, and Nadine, for their invaluable guidance and support.
I wish you and your families a healthy, happy, and peaceful year filled with joy and blessings.
